Smart Energy Enterprises Ltd Company Profile

Smart Energy Enterprise Company Ltd was established in 2017 and its main business is selling solar irrigation pumps to smallholder farmers. The company’s registered office is in Karonga district and its operations target smallholder rice farmers in the district and surrounding areas. With a GETF grant, the company is fronting what it has christened the “Kanyumba Solar Irrigation packages” to the GETF grant application. The company plans to use the GETF grant in developing 50 Kanyumba Solar Irrigation packages to be marketed and sold to smallholder rice farmers in Karonga on credit terms.

Impact

At the end of the project, it is anticipated that 400 low-income households will access green solutions as a result of the GETF Kanyumba Irrigation System project. Additional impacts include the following; 25 permanent jobs created (50% women or youth); 500 low-income households with an increase in aggregate income by 20%.

Status on Project Implementation

Smart Energy Enterprises Ltd is implementing Milestone 1, which focuses on designing and finalizing cost estimates for the workshop and offices, and seeking regulatory approvals among others.
